The reason he got up out of bed was he took Adam's power and Adam denigrated. If he can take powers in some way (like Gabriel and Peter) good, then say so. But in the flashback his power was a mindreading/mind altering power....and seemed to be his only power.

There's been no explanation of what Arthur's power is and this is a writing problem. The writers on this show are very lazy. If there's a plot hole, so what, send Hiro or Peter through time to fix it, make it an unknown power, or just never be clear. Shoddy writing.
