Good show, but a terrible ending.

I was so surprised at the ending, and it DID bring tears to my eyes...I hope it will continue to be my #1 show...

I wasn't surprised. I was afraid they'd do something like that. I prefer to think a character like Grissom would leave his job for some scholarly or philosophical pursuit -- not to say he couldn't have that and romance both. But the Sidle character annoyed me so much that the romantic arc between the two of them really spoiled the technical side of the show for me. To that end, I'm glad to see both of them gone.

That's why I'm sort of glad they cast LF in the new role. Maybe now, they can make the show a little darker? The original concept was that Langston has a serial killer gene, and he has to fight those urges. Injecting a little Dexter or giving the show a little Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal Lector vibe could possibly turn the show into appointment TV again. nods

I don't think you have to worry about that, babs. CSI is a golden goose, and they're not going to change it too much and risk messing with it. What I was thinking is LF is a much better actor than WP, so now, they can write some really meaty stuff for him. nods

LF is a fantastic actor (man, that's an expressive face). I think you're right, ragin, they can do some creative writing for him. Sometimes a show get off to a great start with a really sharp premise, then it starts to coast and the ptb think they need to explore deeply into the personal lives of the characters. And sometimes that's a mistake. It drove me away from ER, and it threatened to do so with CSI. Maybe now they can drive the show as a procedural/thriller for a while. Hope so.

I, too, was hoping they wouldn't go that route. I would have preferred to see him with Lady Heather if anyone but being on his own enjoying his life or working on acceptance of his growing deafness-what happened to that long term story line?-would have been better.

They really did let that hearing problem vanish, didn't they? For as big a deal as they made of it at the time, it sure became a non-issue.

I really didn't think I would like LF being on CSI. He has not been one of my better liked actors. But after last week, I was a little more optimistic, and this week, he won me over. I like that his character is not a know-it-all, been-there-done-that sort. He is willing to learn the little things like the fingerprinting, and get his hands dirty during the autopsy.

nods

And, I loved that Katherine gave Gil's office to Nick, who then in turn shared it with Greg and Riley. I'm really sensing a change in the shows that can lead to some very different storytelling. nods

Me too! I really enjoyed it and back to the question up above...didn't Grissom have surgery for his hearing??

Barbie, I think you're right. Believe he did have successful surgery. I'd forgotten about that.

Hooray! Grissom is gone! Lawrence Fishburn is much better. I hope Grissom and Sara never return from that ridiculous jungle life we last saw them in... Ugh! barfsmiley

JoeyM..your posting all over the board and I'm enjoying all your posts..it's so nice to have you visit and as far as Lawrence Fishburn, I do like him. But I do miss Grissom.
I do like the way they are taking the show in a different direction.

Well that was a foolish way to end the show. I never liked the romance between Grisson and Sarah. However I am not being lured back to CSI by Fishburn. Its been a long time since I really enjoyed a CSI episode. I did watch the one with Taylor Swift in it as I was interested in how well such a young woman would act. I didn't think it was well written. She was not spectacular but OK. Scripts just aren't that good.

Thanks Barbie. smile

Grissom was okay, but I think Lawrence is an improvement; although I wouldn't be surprised if I'm in the minority on that. Greg, Katherine, and Nick still hold the show together for me. I hope they stick around for a long time.

I'm still not good with the new character names, but in the most recent episode when they put Lawrence down in the basement with the new female CSI, and they were basically taken hostage for the entire episode... I thought that was a good effort by the show to define these new characters and help us accept them as part of the show.

I just couldn't get over the laughable way in which Grissom went out - Traipsing through a jungle, Grissom finds Sarah and her shack, air drying her jungle garb... And then they embrace. And now I guess they are out there living as one with the bears and birds... barfsmiley Who does this?

When they come back as guest stars (which is inevitable unfortunately), they better stop off at a motel and take a shower before they show up at The Office!
