while not explicitely saying who died, the women who called in the confirmed dead call had worked on the white girls missing case.
and I agree that not saying did focus on the equality issue, but I also saw the show as raising a whole lot of other questions in terms of stereotypes.
The white girl had done illegal activities, and yet the black boy was merely helping his dad. (Sterotypically it's usually the other way around) The publicity went to the white girl and not the the black boy, yet if my assumption above is correct that could say something about the publicity itself. (Maybe so much publicity was a bad thing) There is also the political nature of the whole searches, while it clearly put the head of the dept as being motivated by the affluent or predjudicial (or assumed affluent white family) it also brought up was Sam Malone really against the discrimination... or was there a question of doubt in himself?
Did the publicity of the white girl actually hurt her chances of being found? I mean if I were a bad guy and she was connected to me, and she got all that publicity, wouldn't I rather shut her up, than let her go?
having said that, I really would have liked to know which one did die... in the script writers mind....
