Okay, tonight is the week before Ghost Whisperer and Medium premier...I figured that CBS would play the season finale's and I was right. I never got to see GW's and of course I was not disappointed.

I decided to try Medium, keep in mind that the entire 4 or 5 seasons it was on NBC I never watched it as I never really watched much TV on Mondays at 10pm (still don't)

Let me say that this finale' was a roller coaster of emotions...the dreams, the detective, the pending doom...and when she met the detective who she never saw before from her dreams, the pending doom in her eyes was horrific (I rewound the DVR 3 times just to absorb the impact of the scene.) Then the Tumor, then the betrayal, then the conspiracy and the the arrest and death...when I finished watching I felt physically exhausted. I know nothing of the show, so I ask a favor to those of you who are fans.

What is the back story to all of this? Was this the driving fear in her (the massacre of her family) or was the story different at first? Was the detective arrested always in the show?

I'm going to watch this season but I had no idea how well done this show was...I may eventually rent all the seasons from Netflix if the recommendations are that good.

Thx all.

I don't know if this will answer the question but pretty much everything that happens is driven by her dreams. She had a dream... recurring, actually, that showed her whole family having been massacred... and in pieces it would add to that story and connect it to this whole deal in Mexico. The final "unveiling" of the true culprit was the culmination and the last piece of the dream to be revealed. Most of the stories that happen on Medium are one-off. She'll dream and there will be resolution within the episode. Some... and more in the later seasons, will arc in two to three episodes. The family life will serialize throughout the series... the daughters starting to realize their medium powers... the husband's loss of a job at the end of season 4 and relocation for a new job in season 5. The characters and the actors are all really good ... the show has always been a favorite hour of mine. I really like the people and love the way the stories are written and worked out. Very pleased to see it paired with GW.... another show I like... although I actually like Medium a bit better.

I'm a late comer to the show myself. I watched an episode here and there with my mom going back 3 or 4 years ago, but never steady. Then I got to watching it at some point season before last on and off more often to the point that when last season started it was a full time preset on my dvr. I love how the girls are becoming more of the show now that they are getting older.

So, I can't say for sure if the early seasons are worth renting and watching every episode, but I can say for sure at least the last 2 seasons are. Wish I would have thought to re-watch the finale Friday but I'm sure I'll have it all come back to me when they show the previously on.

gd...it is truly a great show.....very under-rated....and NBC treated it like crap......the most realistic family on TV......that's what makes it so awesome.......we can relate to their lives.....my daughter acts much like Ariel does...they are both the same age........it's a show both my wife & I enjoy watching together..... grin

I must say that the family is quite "ordinary" looking (which is refreshing...
