Meghan/Cheyne depart at 8:17am

Choose a locked briefcase and search for their next clue.

RB: Row an inflatable dingy to a boat, receive a watch, and use the time on the watch as the combination to the briefcase.

B/E leave. Missed the time.

Cheyne does RB.

Globes @ 10:42 am

Gary/Matt @ 10:45am

Gary helped Matt dye his hair the night before.

Cheyne opens his briefcase. Off to the Abra station.

Brian does RB because Ericka "doesn't do water."

Sam/Dan @11:34am

Globes got taken to the wrong place.

Brian completes the RB.

Gary does rb

At Abra station Meghan/Cheyne hit the detour.

Gold: fids a jewelry store ane weigh out exactly $500,000 of gold.

Glass: Go to a spice market and assemble 10 hookas.

They do glass.

Maria/Tiffany @ 11:47am.

Mika/Canaan @ 11:54am

Gary finishes RB.

Not sure which Globe is doing Rb...it's the bigger one. Big Easy, his shirt said.

Brian/Ericka choose gold.

Dan, I think, is doing the RB.

Flight time yells to Big Easy to "do it for the hood." Sam yells to Dan to "do it for the suburbs!"

Dan finishes RB, Big Easy is reading the numbers, not the time.

Tiffany does RB.

Canaan does RB as Mika is scared of water. No wonder she freaks out at the slide.

Tiffany finishes RB.

Mika asks "does a Muslim clock work different?"

Canaan finishes RB.

Finally, Big Easy realizes it's the time on the watch that's the combo. He finishes RB.

Brian wants to switch to the hookas, but Ericka does not.

Meanwhile, Meghan & Cheyne don't pass their review of the hookas the first time.

And Brian/Ericka don't get it right the first time either.

Gary/Matt opt for glass.

M/C have leftover pieces on the side, and that's why they aren't finishing.

Brian and Ericka don't either, so they switch tasks.

Finally, M/C finish detour. Off to the Atlantis Dubai resort. Down a waterslide into a shark tank!

Sam/Dan do gold.

M/T do gold.

B/E don't pass their first go-round on Glass.

Mika/Canaan do Glass.

Ericka is being very bossy but not doing much herself.

At Gold, the two teams just about had it when the number changed. Oy.

This time, both teams get it. S/D and M/T off to ATlantis.

At the slide, Meghan and Cheyne are both afraid of heights. And sharks. But they do it quickly. Off to Dolphin Bay beach pit stop.

Meghan/Cheyne team #1. He drags her in the ocean. And they each win a personal watercraft.

At glass, Ericka wants to cry.

The Globes show up, and that seems to piss her off even more.

B/E still don't have it right.

Ericka continues to gripe.

Matt looks like he's about to pass out.

Mika wishes she were naked right now, it's so hot.

Brian figures out what they (Ericka) did wrong. They finish and they're off.

The Globes switch to gold, thinking it took Brian /Ericka too long to do glass.

The poker girls, the Sam/Dan do the slide.

M/T team #2. Sam/Dan team #3.

Group hug in the ocean.

The Globes ask to borrow a calculator at gold. Gary/Matt finish glass.

Ericka is in tears thinking about the slide. He hates heights, she hates water. So he makes her go first. She's crying at the bottom.

How does she shower hating water that much?

B/E team #4.

Mika/Canaan finish glass.

Gary/Matt team #5.

Mika starts throwing a fit. She's got floaties on her arm and she's still scared.

Globes finish gold.

Mika continues to scream like someone's stealing her kidney. Canaan reminds her that she'll make them lose the race.

Sheesh. I can't believe she wouldn't go down a 5 second water slide to possibly win a million bucks. I'm now thinking Canaan should have really pushed her when she was sitting on the top of the slide.

Mika complains that this task is stupid stupid stupid!

Canaan tries to tell her that she'll regret not doing this.

She sits down. And says she can't do this.

She says I hate my life right now. She yells and whines that she can't do this.

She stalls and stalls. And the globes show up.

Mika has two minutes to decide to do it.

Then the Globes are egging her on.

Mika loses her time. The Globes take the plunge.

Canaan calls Big Easy a piece of crap for doing that to her. It wasn't nice, but it had to be done.

Canaan goes down the slide.

Mika goes down the stairs.

The Globes are team #6 and still in the race.

Mika and Canaan last...Eliminated.

Mika feels like she let Canaan down...and herself.

He doesn't hold it against her. It could've been him up there paralized by fear.

Next week: Ericka breaks down. The Globes get down.

I understand the fear of heights. I like them myself, but I couldn't do that slide because of my vertigo...I get really sick coming down fast like that. It messes with my equilibrium. But for less than 100 feet and to cool off on such a hot day, I'd have risked being sick.

That said, my issue is that going on the race, people who have such a fear of heights should really be prepared to suck it up or have a partner who doesn't mind losing if you fail. Because you HAVE to know you're likely to deal with heights somewhere along the race route. You know it, and you still agree to do the race...then don't throw a fit when you're faced with the situation. You took a spot from someone who would've loved to do that task.

For all of Ericka's whining, at least she went down the slide. She cried and pissed and moaned, but she did it and moved on. I have respect for that. Mika...while I can appreciate and understand the fear of heights, I also feel like she knew what she was getting into when she signed up for the race. I'd have been pissed if she wasn't eliminated tonight after giving up like that.

Mika deserved to go home. Like Red I would have been very angry if she hadn't after that crap. I felt so bad for Canaan... and I thought his forgiveness at the end was very nice... but that girl had no business being on the show.

I'm enjoying the teams this season. Good play.

Very happy the Globetrotters are still in the race... would have been sad to see them go.

Mika was afraid of water. That's a little different since she was going into a pool. Personally, had Canannon not grabbed her and seemed like he was going to push her, she might have been able to do it. After he did that, she couldn't trust him. I don't really blame her for that.

I do blame her for knowing ahead of time she had these paralyzing fears and going on the race with in no way prepared to deal with them. She's very young, and that showed.

If you are in a situation like that, just think of how many years(decades?) you would have to work eight hours a day to make a million bucks. Would you rather do that or spend five seconds going down a water slide? Of course, I would not have had any trouble with the water slide, but I know something like the huge bungee jump off the dam early last season would have terrified me. I guarantee I would still do it. Thinking about the money would definitely help.

The 2 questions they should ask when you apply for the show is...

1) Can you swim??

2) Are you afraid of heights?

If you can't do any of them then you shouldn't be on the show......yes it made for good drama....but it was painful to watch her cry like a baby for such a simple task......and I am pretty sure I would have done the same thing as the Globes if faced with potential elimination....... grin

It was painful to watch her cry like that and I felt sorry for him because her fear caused them to potentially lose that money.......

If I were him....I would have run right up behind her when she was sitting at the top of the slide and pushed her down....and immediately followed...........that was his once chance to get her to go.....I would rather live with the anger from her for doing something like that than living with the fact we Lost the chance of $1 million for not doing it........it's something that you would think about in your head over and over......... shakehead

Why go on the show??

Glad that the Globes are still there...I would have probably freaked out at the top of the water slide too...but I would have made myself do it...I would have screamed like a baby the whole way down! I would be surprised if Mika & Canaan are still together at this point...yes, he did say that he forgives her etc. but that would take a lot of forgiveness...

I said to MrLurk jokingly that Mika should pray for God to give her the strength to overcome her fears... wink

I forgot to add, I was surprised that more teams DIDN'T have trouble with the briefcase...I'm not sure if I would have realized that the time was the combination...

Good for the poker girls to handle that gold task really well.....it's amazing how many people couldn't figure out the exchange........ shakehead

I do not think I have ever seen a grown adult with water wings before. Over life saving devices, but not water wings on the arms & they looked exactly something my 2 yr old wears when she goes in the pool. I would have been more embarrassed by the water wings than going down the slide, but I have been down several slides like that. Its very thrilling, and usually there is a pile of guys down at the end of those slides... because no matter what type of bathing suit a woman has on.... you get a major wedgie or your bottoms come practically off. Someone gets flashed.

Guess you have to respect that paralyzing, irrational fear when it overrides the competitive spirit that should propel you right down that slide. So I agree, fear of heights should be an elimination factor for inclusion on the show. Wouldn't stop people from lying, of course, nor would it stop CBS and the producers from wanting them on the show for the very reaction this episode has evoked.

It depends on how crippling the fear was. The bungee jump you mentioned, I don't think I could do that for 10 million dollars. But I won't go on the show because I know I probably couldn't do some of those tasks because of my fear of heights.

Money isn't everything and some fears take a lot more than dollar signs to get passed.

I agree Fran.

I don't have a fear of heights. I do, however, have some medical issues. I mentioned the vertigo, which would prevent me from doing something like a bungee jump, a freefall or a zip line at a steep angle of descent. I also have severe stomach issues which prevent me from eating most foods. So that would let out any weird food tasks. My fear would not be the task itself...in my case the fear comes from knowing I could be stuck with such a task and not be able to complete it.

To me, that waterslide looked like so much fun...and I know if I'd have attempted it, it's very likely my stomach would be turning for at least a day if not longer. How do you run a race when you can't stand up straight? And even worse, I HATE being sick so much that I just might consider passing up a million dollars if winning it meant doing a task that would have me curled up in the fetal position for days on end.

I know my health issues don't exactly compare to fear...but I do understand how paralyzed someone can feel when their fear is staring them in the face. Last night, half of me wanted to hug Mika and tell her everything would be okay, while at the same time I wanted to lecture her that she should've known better than to try the race if she was that afraid of heights AND water, because she had to know she'd encounter both on the race.

Loved that!!! Probably one of the best off the cuff lines I've ever heard on a reality show. The teams this season are really funny and fun to watch.

Glad to see Zev & Justin finally got to the Elimination Station. (posted in another thread)

I don't think I could be so forgiving if I were Canaan. And to be at the top of that slide for 45 minutes?!?! (as heard in the elimination station video) Then to give Big Easy lip for telling Mika not to slide. Thats just crazy, it's not like she was going to do it anyways, and if she was, she could have gone after Canaan and not just walked away. It could have possibly been a non elimination leg.

Everyone has a fear of something, but like most of you have said, it's not like this wasn't something to be expected when running the race. Unless she had never heard of the Amazing Race before (in which case, why did she sign up?) all contestants know the "challenges" are there to test and challenge you.

ITA. I also agree with someone who said that if you are terrified with heights, wait, no. Not terrified, absolutely gripped with a "phobia like fear" of heights or water, you shouldn't go on the show.

I have BOTH of those. Its one thing to be afraid of water and go in a pool. Its one thing to be afraid of heights and jump down 20, 30 feet. But to have paralyzing phobia of either one and to have to go down a SIX STORY STEEP drop into shark filled water, it is too much. The only way to conquer those fears are to face them. But when they are that embedded, you simply can NOT go from 0 to 100 just like *that*.

I also am claustrophobic. That slight bit of tunnel at the end, with water all around you, no matter how quick it is, if I had known it was there, would have been overwhelming. ....... (Yeah, I am consumed with phobias! LOL!!!)

Which is exactly why she, (and I) should never have gone on the show with that tremendous a fear. I feel for her, frown , but she should have known better.

I do think its wonderful though, no matter how upset with her he was, that he said "Forgiveness is freeing." and that it would be something he would let go of and still love her... no matter the 'potential' financial loss. THAT, my friend, is love. wink
