My thoughts:
I was sorry to see BOTH the tappers go, but they were weak dancers last night, and when the other options were both contemporary dancers (which is the SYTYCD darling genre), well I could see the writing on the wall.
I guess what's sad is that tap is really a dance unto itself; the skills required for it don't usually translate to other genres, and so even if a choreographer was doing a Broadway number for a tapper, they probably wouldn't be able to put any tap moves in there for them. bluesigh

Ok, moving on.

That Stacy Tookey routine just SCREAMED "Mia Michaels 'Addiction' ripoff!" to me. Not so much the dancing, but the whole concept.

I really enjoyed the Wade Robson routine!

Other than that, oh kudos to the tango dancer (forgetting names). She handled the wardrobe problem in the best way possible, and IMO that alone should keep her from elimination, even if she had sucked at all the actual steps! congrats

Which proves they are eliminating the dancer and not the genre. Phillip was limited and Bianca as well. There may be a few others that don't excel in other genres like some can. It was actually very surprising to see some out of their genre last night really grasping the change. Legacy really proved something. The third tapper did a very good job. The latin dancer that Adam really likes (Karen?) was fantastic. Both of the folks doing the tango. Phillip and Bianca are excellent dancers and I agree that it is difficult to really even find a tap choreographer that could come in and have others outside of that genre attempt that difficulty.... but P and B did not excel in the genre's they were in last night and... people get eliminated. That's just the way it works.

Here is a tap dance that the tapper Everett and his partner Tara-Jean did during the show. TJ was the overall winner.

Thanks for sharing that clip, really enjoyed that performance.
I'm a bit bummed about two tappers going home, and just goes to show they could do a tap routine if they really tried.

How cool was that? I enjoyed the number and both of the dancers. Everett is adorable. Great job. I can see her dancing to the finale for sure. Happy for her.

While I'm kidnapping your thread, here is TJ with the guy who came second, Vincent, who is a French Canadian ballroom dancer.

They were always magical together.

I don't know what her specialty is, but she does a serviceable job on the tapping. Just goes to show it CAN be done! Hear that, SYTYCD USA?

String, she had previous tap training. Not saying that it cannot be done otherwise but it is definitely not something you can train in a week. It is more than steps. It is about HOW you dance and strength in knees and feet. It actually is a lot different. Although tap was not her style she had tapped when younger.
