Chan, 54, a Martinez resident who works as the Director of Information Systems for the College of Chemistry at UC Berkeley, says as soon as the curtain dropped on the huge Ford truck, he knew he could never take it home.

"When they dropped the curtain, I knew that's not my lifestyle. I own two hybrids. If I took it home, my wife would leave me and the children would have disowned me, but it was nice of Ford to donate the truck," Chan says the morning after Sunday's "Survivor: Fiji" finale. "Now, if they would have donated a hybrid Escape, I wouldn't be so quick to trade it off."

Of course, that was also before he knew how much the truck was worth, joking that he would never have made it on "The Price is Right."

So, does he have to pay taxes on the truck anyway?

"I didn't touch it. The title never touched me," Chan says. "I'm in the clear."

He says that he knew how much Andria "Dreamz" Herd wanted the truck, so he decided almost immediately to use it as a bargaining chip because he knew when it came down to the final four, either he or Dreamz would win the immunity challenge.

"Earl won the million dollars, and because neither Dreamz nor Cassandra got a single vote, they tied for second and will get $100,000. Since I came in third, I will get $60,000."

...So he got the value for the truck in money anyway.......I think Yau is one of the best players never to win Survivor along side Terry......

Dreamz total winnings in cash and prizes - $160,000. He'll probably have to use his cash winnings to pay the taxes on the truck.

And how 'bout that Yau-Man, driving hybrids. He da man.

With their other winnings the 2007 taxes on a $50,000 truck for either Yau or Dre would be about $20,000.

Does anyone else expect Dre to plead that he thought CBS was going to pay the taxes?

Earl was on the Adam Carolla show this morning. As we saw on the episode, they figured it was a car challenge from the wording of the tree mail, and Earl claims that they all decided at that point that whoever won would give it to Dreamz because he was the only one without a vehicle. So where does the truth lie?

In a sidebar, Earl says he was originally cast on The Amazing Race but had to decline because his partner couldn't make it. His info then made its way to Mark Burnett and the folks at Survivor, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I knew all about the taxes right from the start. It was always my plan to take the truck and keep the taxes. I don't need to do a solilotude bout it, just think bout it and you'll see how it was part of my strategic game.

Has anybody that's been on Survivor in recent times actually applied to be on SURVIVOR?

I think Papa Smurf was the only one this time.

For some reason Burnett seems to prefer taking contestants from places other than the actual applicants. Heck, maybe Dreamz was still homeless and Burnett found him in the dumpster and offered him the spot.

Still a good deal paying $20,000 (taxes) for a $60,000 truck!

Actually, how long will he keep it? Something that big and nice just screams to be stolen.
