Like many places, I suppose it's a matter of socio/geographical placement. That cockney accent is a tough one. Right!

I understand most of what is said but occassionally it takes me a few seconds to process some of the dialogue and its always a particulary accent. On Torchwood its the semi nerdy male that I sometimes have difficulty with and even the main female lead once in a while. I don't have problems with Jack. On Dr. Who, I can understand David Tennent well but sometimes with Rose I had a bit of a problem and her boyfriend spoke a totally different language!!!! Martha is fairly clear to me at present.

Americans must sound awful to them. I think we speak perfectly clearly...

I think the accent from Liverpool is the accent I've the hardest time with.

When I went to Ireland... people there were commenting on my accent. What accent? *shrugs* In fact, when I was asking for direction on getting to Galway... the man couldn't understand a word I was saying.. Looked at me... AS IF I was speaking a different language?

I actually had to write down what I was asking...

I just watched a BBC episode I taped earlier in the week, It was a mother and her two daughters with a rest. named Morgans in Liverpool. I understood about a quarter of the dialogue.

I've never had anyone, to my knowledge, have trouble understanding me while abroad. 'Course, I speak Texican, which is universal.

After watching tonights episode, is it my imagination or is there a commercial about every 5 minutes? I don't think this is the case with the BBC version. Maybe that's why it comes off as more personal.

I remember when I visited England many years ago, that a lot of their shows run around 40 minutes, that would probably be 30 minutes for us. Maybe the ones we see as an hour, actually ran a bit longer over there. So, we can't put as many commercials in it, in order to air it in only 60 minutes?

I'm probably COMPLETELY offbase. I have no earthly idea. But, I do think you are correct that our version seems to have more commercials.

An network hour show here usually has about 43 minutes or so of actual content I believe. I wasn't really paying attention last night until towards the end of the show but it seemed like there was even less content than that. I'll have to try and see what the BBC version has.

Then we share in that imagination.... TOO MANY COMMERCIALS!

Ramsey is all over the place... has anybody seen "Gordon Ramsey's F Word"?

Its another show... another restaurant of his... but they interview guest/customers on various topics. This episode was on "the effect of kitchen heat on speam counts".

I liked that they actually fired some "chefs" this (last) time. If it has showed again already I haven't gotten my tape yet.

I hadn't heard of the "F" word. Can you tell me when it's on?
