AND... I'm learning a whole lot of new terms that would get bleeped on the American version like "you're pulling my plonker."
I've heard a lot of British terms and have watched nearly all the Ramsay shows. But, I think that expression passed me by! I get it, but I've never heard it before.

On a tour while abroad years ago I was stopped in the hall by one of the Brits in our group(Americans, Brits and Canadians were grouped together). He was asking me something and I had to stop him and apologize and tell him, "I know we're both speaking English but I didn't understand a single word of what you just said."
After 3 viewings I've decided I do like the BBC version more. It seems more intimate.
BBC America will run this little info piece just before some of its programs telling people how to puch the closed captioning because of the British accent. its funny in that one time they say not even the British can understand the accent all time and then another time the announcer says something like this is how you would sound if you hadn't dumped our tea into the Boston harbor.
I've heard the tea comment!
I LOVE the accent. I think its sexy as it can be. But I watch EastEnders every week. And yep! I've got that closed captioning on every time!!!!

I have been fascinated by this show from the 1st episode I saw (I never watch Hells Kitchen, although I know Ramsey is the potty-mouthed British chef). I am glad they dispensed w/ showing Ramsey shirtless--he's no Ty from Extreme Home Makeovers. It could be just because I don't find him that attractive, but still, something about a chef w/o his shirt on is a little unappetizing. I've also noticed that if you look closely some of the unhappy customers in the beginning are also featured in the "relaunch", and are then much more satisfied. Is this on purpose? Are they inviting these particular people to come back after it's been redone? Or are they ACTORS , who are brought in to emphasize the contrast in the before & after? I'm also floored that some of these "nice" restaurants microwave their food. Are you kidding me?!

Anyone watch the season finale last night? I thought it was decent. Some of the earlier episodes were stronger in my opinion. All in all, a pretty good season. In terms of entertainment, I would have to rank it right up there with Hell's Kitchen. The advantages of this show over HK were the different restaurants we saw every week, and the variety of the business practices and the staff. But like HK (and most reality shows), many of the scenes were staged, as claimed in the lawsuit. But Ramsay is a star and I am looking forward to HK: http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/fox-d...r-idol-6064.phpThe next edition of HK is coming in April 2008 in a time slot after 'Idol'.
