This has turned out to be a hilarious show!

The premise: real people, some relatively freakish, run an obstacle course to win $50,000. They run down a ramp and hop over a supposed non-obstacle water to floaty things to get to the knock out wall. They have to grab those rock climbing wall thingies while whack-a-mole style fists pop out and hit them. If they get knocked off they fall into thick mud. Once out of the mud they have to climb a ramp and try to bounce across big red balls. Yes, the announcers take joy in calling them the big balls. Usually they bounce off the big balls into the water where they have to swim over to the final preliminary obastacle and do a rope swing thing. They vary these just a bit but that's basically it.

Then there is a semi-final and a final.

The announcers are deliciously sarcastic and funny. The people try hard so it is real. It just works for me.

Anybody else watching this?

Sick of reality game shows.... They drop Men In Tree and have this junk...

I've seen commercials and thought it looked silly, now you and chavik make it sound like a riot. I'm going to try it.

Exactly what I was thinking; Men in Trees reminds me of Northern Exposure. I didn't like that much either though all my female friends just swooned over it. It just wasn't for me though.

In addition I think you are totally right that Wipeout is making fun of itself and other reality game shows. The stunts are designed to be silly but the sarcasm from the hosts just makes it work. Yet, it is real and they win $50,000.

Rob and I like to watch this show because it is brainless fun. We can also picture in our minds how these folks were talked into making fools of themselves -- some people will do ANYTHING to get on TV.

MIT didn't remind me of Northern Exposure at all.Had I felt it did resemble Northern Exposure more, I probably would have watched but MIT never did make any in roads with me.

Is this new tonight? The abc website says it is but tivo says its a repeat but then again if the show isn't live tivo seems to think everything is a repeat.
