DAMN! They should have signed Angela Bassett a couple years ago...maybe their ratings would have done well enough to carry on a bit longer.
I have seen the promos during the Olympics and they look good. I am wondering...if the ratings improve is there a chance ER will continue or maybe morph into a spin off?

And she is a hard core biatch....with a story, full of heart. I'm not really liking it. She was too hard too early, and she made me like Morris. Yikes!!! I really haven't watched in a few years. Abby is the only reason I watched lately. Oh no, she is leaving next week. Looks like the tears could flow. Maury was a very very good part of E.R. the last whatever years she has been there. Very loveable character. I haven't watched the show and I already miss her!! And what happened to Pratt? How did he die?

All my life, I always wanted to be somebody. Now I see that I should
have been more specific
Pratt was transporting a patient in an ambulance. The patient was in the witness protection program for ratting out the mob. The ambulance blew up, but Pratt was in the front and survived. They thought he just had a broken leg and jaw. Once he got to the ER a piece of the jaw bone had nicked his carotid artery and he was bleeding into is neck. Neela preformed a procedure that clamped off the artery, but could cause a stroke.
He had an air embolis that went to his brain and cut off the oxygen, causing brain death.
It was one of the saddest ER episodes ever! I was a total blubbering mess after it was over.

I kept trying to stop crying...didn't work. The waterworks started about 1/3 into the show and didn't stop til it was over.
As for Basset's first day on the job...YIKES! She certainly isn't warm and fuzzy She came on so strong right away I am not sure what I think...yet.

I like her. She was tough, but she does seem fair. Although I did wonder why the hell she was asking a nurse for a care plan. Hello, you have interns and residents to teach that would actually be doing that, not a nurse.
There's obviously a past with her character and her family.
If you want to know, click the spoiler link. Got to be how Haleh knows her.
Speaking of Haleh, I feel bad for her. She's been on this show since the start and they have that horrible Sam as the lead female. I'd much rather see Haleh or Lydia or Chueny as the main nurse.

I know Basset's real life husband will soon be joining the cast and will play her husband on the show as well...perhaps there is a connection there...supposed to be fireworks.

so what did you think of last night's show? What was the deal with her attitude towards her husband? Frank was cute getting her the fixin's & recipe to make a special dinner for her in-laws.
Obviously from the previews, it looks like Dr. Greene appears in flashbacks to when he treated her in the past. I've really been enjoying this season.
I have another question...was Chas always Chas Pratt? I thought he had a different last name? I'll have to go search on TWOP since I'm sure someone there will know!

OK...on TWOP there's a posting from EW (Ask Ausiello)... that gives the answer
Click to reveal..
Is the ER episode featuring the return of Anthony Edwards going to be ridiculous and unrealistic, or will it have long-time fans appreciate it? -- Megan
Ausiello: Worry not -- your favorite hospital hasn't turned into a dead-raising hellmouth. Dr. Greene only appears in flashbacks, where we learn the tragedy behind Dr. Banfield's (Angela Bassett) thorny exterior: Greene couldn't save Banfield’s son from a particularly bad case of acute leukemia, and he died in the very ER she now works in. Ouch, right? We also get a brief glimpse of our old pal Robert "Rocket" Romano (Paul McCrane). Don't blink, or you'll miss 'em.
